Christian McCaffrey took over a primetime night against the league’s best roster and walked out with Offensive Player of the Week. Jaden Hicks turned Kansas City’s defense into points and walked out with Defensive Player of the Week.

Everybody else on the board had a heater. Those two owned the week.

San Francisco got the favored division-rival Rams on Thursday night — Jordan Stowe’s 91 overall throne, Hollywood’s toys, the best team in Madden 27. McCaffrey treated it like a track meet. One hundred eighty-seven on the ground. A hundred more through the air. Three scores. A dominating win that already showed up on the coaching-grade board.

The Morning Show called him that dude. The graphic made it official.

Trent’s Chiefs opened the season on the road in Denver and Hicks made the tape personal. Twelve tackles. Three interceptions. A pick-six. That is not complementary football. That is a safety hunting, and a Defensive Player of the Week stamp that writes itself.

The rest of the league can talk 90 overall offenses. Kansas City just showed you what happens when the other side of the ball starts scoring too.

None of them beat 290 and three scores. None of them beat three picks and a pick-six.

Desk verdict

Swipe and CMC own the first Offensive Player of the Week of KML Reborn. The Rams were supposed to be the mountain. McCaffrey ran through it.

Trent and Hicks own the first Defensive Player of the Week. Twelve tackles, three interceptions, a score. That is the kind of tape that makes a 90-offense club look complete.

The rest of the board is the warning: Maye, Herbert, Gibbs, Bijan, Walker, Chop, Lawrence all left fingerprints on Week 1. The standard is already high.

Week 2 doesn’t get to ease in. The honors desk will be watching.
