Trade deadline hit and Swipe went all-in. San Francisco sent a 2026 1st (10), a 2027 2nd (7), and a 2026 4th (3) — 20 trade points — to Tennessee for DT Jeffery Simmons (10). Curry flipped a 2027 5th (2) to Washington for Daron Payne (7). Stephen A. already called the first one unnecessary.

The KML Morning Show did not ease into Week 8. Trade deadline. Stephen A. and Shannon opened on Coach Swipe with the banner already in all caps: UNDER FIRE.
San Francisco did not need more help. Then Swipe spent 20 trade points on a 10-point defensive tackle anyway.
The board printed the names. The ledger printed the math.

That is a first, a future second, and a fourth — double the points Tennessee put on the table — for one interior wrecker. Elite player. No doubt. The overpay is what set the desk on fire.
Deadline day is when contend clubs pay a tax. Swipe paid it in public.

Swipe already had the 90-offense toys, Christian McCaffrey, and a defense that put Ji’Ayir Brown on a Week 4 honors stamp with three pick-sixes. The last power board still had San Francisco 4–2 and Pressured at 81 after three straight, including a 35–16 primetime dunk on Washington.
A Pressured coach on a bye week does not have to empty the draft board at the deadline. Swipe emptied it anyway. Stephen A.’s point is the simple one: when you already have enough, a 20-for-10 is not adding a missing piece. It is spending the future to look busy.
Shannon did not come to talk scheme.

A 10-point first is not a dart throw. A 7-point future second is not pocket change. Qon’s Titans just cashed 20 points of draft capital for a 10-point tackle San Francisco could have lived without. Rebuilders dream about that return. Contenders only pay it when they think a ring is on the table this year.
The Morning Show’s own copy said the quiet part: this move might not move the needle come playoff time — and it definitely sets Swipe up for major backlash if the year does not end with another ring.
Deadline was not a one-trade show.

Curry just bought a 29-year-old, 84-overall interior starter for a future fifth. Jerm just sold a veteran body for two points of draft dust.
That is the other half of deadline day: Detroit adding a win-now tackle on the cheap while Swipe paid a fortune for his. Same position. Very different receipts.
Payne is not Simmons. Simmons is the splash. Payne is the value. The desk can hold both thoughts.
That’s the red line on the graphic. That’s still the only question that matters for San Francisco.
Jeffery Simmons in a 49ers uniform is a splash. Interior wrecker. Win-now identity on a helmet. The desk is not arguing whether Simmons can play. The desk is arguing whether Swipe just told the league he is all-in at 20 points for 10 — and whether the ledger will remember the picks if January is quiet.

If Simmons wrecks pockets through December, this is a window. If San Francisco is still Pressured and the first-rounder is in Tennessee, this is the gamble Stephen A. already named.
Curry’s Payne grab does not get that speech. A 2-for-7 at the deadline is how you *add* to a window without burning the future.
